frskniam Impeachment already 0 Feb 7 2008, 2:32 AM EST by frskniam

So I was reading an article http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/07/opinion/07thu2.html and I can't believe it.

How can our representitives from either side of the aisle let GWB get away with this garbage. The American People have the right to know what's going on in our government. I know that we will have a new administration in less than a year, but we must impeach in order to find out the full scope and depth of the treason being committed by the Bushes

frskniam Necessary Depression 0 Feb 6 2008, 8:20 PM EST by frskniam

Although we tend to think of the thought of a economic depression to be a horror and the worst possible event of our lives, it is not. In fact after years like the roaring 20’s and now the late 90’s and 00’s, with massive spending, that a depression is needed to keep ourselves from total destruction.

See these words like recession and depression are always seen in bad light, in fact they are just words dealing with the state of an economy. Now if you are among the billionaires in this world you will see these terms in a bad light normally, for the average person the effects don’t have to be so grim.

I was reading today on MSNBC how many people in conservative as well as liberal states are cutting back on their spending and following the new three R’s: reduce, reuse, and recycle. They are using cloth bags for their groceries, they are buying produce that is locally in season, preferring not to consume products that have been trucked in from everywhere. That there is starting to be a consciousness about conserving and being carbon neutral. The article in question was from the standpoint that these things although nice were detrimental to our economy…

My question is why is our economy really so important?

I’m not saying that it is nothing to be concerned about, but when it comes down to it, it is far less important that the world survives 2050 than the growth of any countries economy. Although we think that the economy is directly related to our quality of life, one look at the wonderful healthcare in Cuba compared to their GDP throws that assumption into question.

So I assert that not only is a depression in America a good thing, it might help us re-evaluate the more important issues. After all, even without any economy we can feed, cloth, and care for every citizen in the nation. We don’t need plasma TV’s and Ipods.
